10-25-06 Amen Dash

It's the Amen Dash

The trouble with nearly everybody who prays is that he says "Amen" and runs away before God has a chance to reply. Listening to God is far more important than giving Him your ideas. -- Frank Laubach

Every morning in Africa, a gazelle wakes up. It knows it must run faster than the fastest lion or it will be killed. Every morning a lion wakes up. It knows it must outrun the slowest gazelle or it will starve to death. It doesn't matter whether you're a lion or a gazelle; when the sun comes up, you'd better be running.

Goodness, this seems to be the American way but when we awaken each morning, we must realize that "The devil walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour" (1 Peter 5:8)

Amen dash………………………………….
In Psalm 5, we read that David came to God early in the morning and asked for his protection and help. Now there’s a plain as the nose on your face’ hint.
Amen dash………………………………
“And early in the morning Laban rose up and kissed his grandchildren and his daughters and pronounced a blessing on them”. (Gen 31:55) Wouldn’t you love to wake up with a kiss and a blessing from your Dad each morning? Coach Wonderful did that for our four children and continues to bless each of my days in the same way with a kiss and a blessing and he likes to top it with an “I love you”. I love it…. can’t live without it! It’s the best breakfast!
Amen pause………………………………..
We seem to have gotten Genesis 19: 15 down pat: “When morning came, the angels urged Lot to hurry” Oh boy, a lot of us hurry! (Ok, that was bad)
Amen dash………………………..

Are you going to continue through life acting as if you are the next door neighbor kid's imaginary friend? You are bona fide, you are breathtaking, and you are God’s magnum opus! Hear Him for God sings to us in the morning – do you hear His song? Listen, Heavens, I have something to tell you. Attention, Earth, I've got a mouth full of words. My teaching, let it fall like a gentle rain, my words arrive like morning dew, Like a sprinkling rain on new grass, like spring showers on the garden”. (Deut. 32:1)

If you want your dreams to come true, don't oversleep. Wake up – smile!
Listen………… praise Him. There are times I think I can hear His breath and I just want to inhale it.
Listen………… thank Him. Sometimes after I smile but before I open my eyes I can smell the aroma of His presence. Those are my favorite mornings.
Listen……..… read His Word. EM Bounds says, “Those who know God the best are the richest and most powerful in prayer. Little acquaintance with God, and strangeness and coldness to Him, make prayer a rare and feeble thing”.
Listen
……..…refresh in Him and hear His song to you before you make the Amen dash.

A pearl to string: I believe in God like I believe in the sun rise. Not because I can see it, but because I can see all that it touches.
-- C. S. Lewis

Watching for God to do my favorite thing..... The impossible!
