DANCING WITH GOD

August 29, 2007

When writing a note to friends or even many of my devotionals I often sign off with the phrase, “Dancing in the Palm of His hand”. It’s my way of expressing my delight in the Lord. About a year or more ago my friend Grace sent me the sweetest piece about dancing with God. At the time I thought, “oh this will make such a good devotional” and I tucked it away in my saving place. I had been thinking about sharing it just recently when I received a letter from my sister Jeane. In the letter I found a song my sister wrote inspired by the phrase, “Dancing in the Palm of His hand”. Oh how special now I must share them both with you.

When I meditated on the word Guidance, I kept seeing "dance" at the end of the word. I remember reading that doing God's will is a lot like dancing. When two people try to lead, nothing feels right. The movement doesn't flow with the music, and everything is quite uncomfortable and jerky. When one person realizes that, and lets the other lead, both bodies begin to flow with the music. One gives gentle cues, perhaps with a nudge to the back or by pressing lightly in one direction or another. It's as if two become one body, moving beautifully. The dance takes surrender, willingness, and attentiveness from one person and gentle guidance and skill from the other. My eyes drew back to the word Guidance. When I saw ‘G’ I thought of God, followed by 'u’ and ‘i’.

"God, 'u’ and ‘i’ dance."

God, you, and I dance.

As I lowered my head, I became willing to trust that I would get guidance about my life. Once again, I became willing to let God lead.

I came from California
Left there when I was 10
Moved all over the Country
Just tryin’ to fit in
As I began to feel at home
It’s time to move again
OH - - will I ever find where I belong

Chorus:
But You are with me Lord
No matter where I go
With Your gentle reminder
I’ll always dance in the palm of Your hand

Life has many roads to travel
Some are good and some not so
There’s a gift in the adventure
No matter where we go
He’s always watching over us
Through all our highs and lows
And we’ll always know it’s here where we belong

Chorus:
But You are with me Lord
No matter where I go
With Your gentle reminder
I’ll always dance in the palm of Your hand

A pearl to string: My prayer for you today is that God's blessings and mercies be upon you on this day and every day. May you abide in God as God abides in you. Dance together with God, trusting God to lead and to guide you through each season of your life. Prayer is one of the best gifts we can receive. So let's continue to pray for one another.

And I Hope You Dance!!!!!!!
Know you are loved
Dancing in the palm of His hand,
Lyndi
